The point isn't to make you feel sympathy for people. The point is that smaller users can come to one place where they can advertise themselves, see art from people like them, and in general just have a good time looking at art and meeting new people. To be honest, it doesn't even matter if you're an "unappreciated" user to join. You could have 10k watchers and I'd still gladly accept you into the group. It's just an art group. There's no pain or sympathy involved.
When I first made this group four years ago, I didn't have many watchers either. But I didn't make it because I felt sorry for myself. I made it because I wanted it to be a place where people could get a bit more recognition for their hard work. And if that's such a bad thing for you, then why are you on an art site?
I have over 1.6k watchers now, but you don't see me taking this group down. I love this group and the small community it's built up over the years.
